Oak Tree Park Non-Profit
Would you like to become a member of an Oak Tree Park Non-Profit Subgroup?
This nonprofit group will be able to move forward with projects that can greatly benefit the North San Juan Community in a way that the Oak Tree Park and Recreation District is unable to provide due it it’s “Not for profit, Section 9” status that disqualifies it’s ability to qualify for most grants. This group will have the support of the Oak Tree Park and Recreation Board.
This group will set its own meeting times, choose it’s own name, projects, priorities, and have the support of the community and the park. Projects could include;
· New basketball, volley, bocce ball, or pickleball courts
· New buildings to house a library or indoor courts and meeting areas
· A new state-of-the-art skate park
· New shade structures or outdoor venues and new bathroom facilities
· OTHER?

Why community service feels meaningful
- Connection to others — Helping neighbors, local organizations, or shared causes creates a sense of purpose. People often feel more rooted in their town or city when they contribute to its wellbeing.
- Visible impact — Unlike abstract goals, community work often produces immediate, concrete results: cleaner parks, supported families, improved local programs, or stronger civic engagement.
- Personal growth — Volunteering builds skills such as communication, leadership, and problem‑solving. Many people discover new interests or strengths through service.
- Shared purpose — Working alongside others toward a common goal can be energizing. It reinforces the idea that communities thrive when people invest in one another.
